Exorcism and Deliverance (the difference)

There is a big difference between "exorcism" and "deliverance". Exorcism is the practice of rearranging and momentarily giving the impression demons are being cast out by means of witchcraft, (mostly for entertainment purposes). Throughout history there have been exorcists that don't even know the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob (Acts 19:13). These individuals use various incantations, rituals, foods, drinks, potions, objects, etc., to summon up demons within a host person. The demons are then challenged and given directions by the over comer in the name of a never specified god. The demons do as they're told because of the power, (including soul power), being harnessed through the exorcist. This demonic soul power is not from El Gibor. It is channelled from familiar spirits, principalities, powers, and rulers of Satan's kingdom through the exorcist, for mostly manipulative purposes. Because of the mixing of spirits, these exorcists may even honestly believe they are being Holy Spirit lead, and yet, are in fact using familiar spirits to accomplish their deeds. Manipulation or domination by any means other than the Holy Spirit is witchcraft. Many of the people doing this practice don't even realize what their power source is. It is a well known fact that there are exorcists in most of the occult Eastern Religions and the New Age movement. Buddhists, Kabbalists, Roman Catholics, and Muslims have been doing exorcism for thousands of years. Many of the New Agers claim to exorcise people from demons, even though they themselves are worshipping demons through their ungodly practices and methods. It takes no imagination to see how foolish it is to honestly think that a Catholic priest, (who worships Mary) could cast a demon out of an individual. Satan is in bed with these religions and people, so when he is required to, he puts on a show for those who don't understand the truth and only look at supernatural powers, without testing the spirits from which they come.

In almost all cases of so called exorcism it is simply a battle of witchcraft. One witch (male or female) against another. If the exorcist is a very powerful witch, which in most cases will be the fact, then it simply becomes a battle of the demons of those two parties. The superior demons will overpower the inferior. Anyone that knows anything about organized witchcraft, Satanism for example, knows that there is a distinct pecking order in covens. Every person knows where they stand in the group and some do everything in their power to move up in the ranks by accumulating for themselves specific demons to ad to their demonic arsenal. Generally speaking, one way witches move up the ranks is by stealing demons of a particular type (from wherever they come across them) to assist the demons they already have. So it becomes simply a battle of demonic powers. The demons are not actually CAST OUT as you would normally call it, but they are stolen and added to the arsenal of the superior witch.

If you have ever been to a public rally of an exorcist, you might have noticed how they manage to pick specific individuals out of a crowd of thousands to use for entertainment purposes. This is how it may work: The exorcist has, knowingly or not, familiar spirits within him which make contact with other demon spirits in the audience. The demons in the crowd are familiar with their host bodies problems, so they communicate with the demons in the exorcist as to the "ripeness" of the person they are in. The demons that have "for entertainment" type hosts, relay "files/information" (from which we get the title, familiar) back and forth with the exorcist, so that he knows which people will manifest the best for entertainment. Many of these people believe they are being lead by the Holy Spirit in this act, and it looks impressive. This tactic is used similarly by hypnotists and other types of demonic entertainers. The difference is, most of the entertainers at least know, without a doubt, who their power source is. The exorcists proclaim to be holy people, in public anyways.

It would be easy to criticize these individuals, but the fact is, we are all vulnerable in our human form, and unless one is "following the word" closely, one can easily be lead astray. Pride is the biggest enemy of these people, because it no doubt feels good to have all these people in the audience admiring your soulish abilities. The fact is, it usually comes down to dollars and cents. If money is being heavily promoted in any so-called Christian situation it is by no means lead by the Holy Spirit. We all know money is needed to facilitate such rallies, but when the main emphasis becomes money and glory for an individual, then he or she is not working for El emet (YHVH of Truth).

1Pet. 4:11 "Whoever speaks, {let him speak,} as it were, the utterances of Yahveh; whoever serves, {let him do} {so} as by the strength which Yahveh supplies; so that in all things Yahveh may be glorified through Messiah Yeshua, to whom belongs the glory and dominion forever and ever.

I must state clearly that ONLY the name of YESHUA will give a gifted saint the power and authority to cast out demons permanently. If one uses the name JESUS (depending on Yahveh's grace and on the ignorance or innocence of the individual), the demons may come out temporarily. Because of the use of the incorrect name Jesus, the demons have a legal right to come back, and that they are guaranteed to do, unless the person repents from using that name. I repeat,

Deliverance is the means by which Believers are set free from demonic captivity by ANOINTED individuals/saints (vessels/instruments), lead by the Holy Spirit. The individual, is using the power and authority given to him by the Holy Spirit, because of his ability to understand and willingness to follow the Word of Adonai as revealed to him in the Bible. This person MUST be Baptized in the Holy Spirit, and must be mature in his walk with Elohay olam (Everlasting Yahveh). Because of his trust and faith in the Word of Yah, he commands demons to leave the host body in the name of Yahveh and our Messiah Yeshua. Through the leading of the Holy Spirit, he (and others present) are given words of knowledge, and revelation necessary to deal with the legal rights of the demons involved. To qualify for such anointed authority, this individual must truly stand close to Yahveh in his walk, and in his prayer life. He must be bold and have perseverance. He must at all times and in all things bring glory to the name of YAHVEH, and never to himself. The captives are set free purely because the Holy Spirit has revealed to him that they can be set free and are ready to be set free. The unquestionable leading of the spirit in this process is of utmost importance!

This anointed individual uses and understands a lot of scriptures in regards to the deliverance procedure, and stands solidly on the Rock. His power and authority, through the Holy Spirit is virtually "unlimited"! Our Father does not give this unlimited power to just anyone who asks. It must be someone who has proven his faith and trust in El Gibor, a mature person that lets the light of Yah's glory pour through him. Again, I repeat, one MUST be Baptized in the Holy Spirit before he can receive the anointing and the ability to cast out demons. Most people have been fooled into thinking that any Believer can cast out devils and heal the sick. This is simply NOT TRUE under normal circumstances. These are gifts given to individuals that Yah trusts and guides.

There has been a misunderstanding in regards to those who do and don't have the ability to cast out demons. For many years now, most teachers of all denominations have proclaimed that all born again saints who believe in the Bible, have the ability to cast out devils and heal the sick. Nothing could be further from the truth. If we take a really close look at the verses that they use to back up this theory, we will see exactly what I mean. Let's look really closely at Isa. 61:1. First, we must acknowledge that Isaiah was not your average holy man. He was a very anointed and learned Prophet. Look closely at the following verse, which was repeated in the Renewed Testament in Isa. 61:1 "The Spirit of Adonai Yahveh is upon me, Because Adonai has anointed me To bring good news to the afflicted; He has sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, To proclaim liberty to captives, And freedom to prisoners;" Luke 4:18 "THE SPIRIT OF ADONAI IS UPON ME, BECAUSE HE ANOINTED ME TO PREACH THE GOSPEL TO THE POOR. HE HAS SENT ME TO PROCLAIM RELEASE TO THE CAPTIVES, AND RECOVERY OF SIGHT TO THE BLIND, TO SET FREE THOSE WHO ARE DOWNTRODDEN," Many people have been taught that any Believer can cast out demons and heal the sick. This is totally incorrect. The gifts of healing and deliverance are specific anointings that are given to Believers that are Baptized in the Holy Spirit. These Believers Yah stands behind because they have proven to be obedient to his commandments and He knows He can trust them (John 14:15 & 21). These two verses in Luke and Isaiah can only be claimed by those who have the special anointing to cast out demons.

Other verses like Luke 10:19, Matt. 10:8, 12:28 and Acts 19:15 have also caused confusion in the past; lets have a closer look at them too.

Luke 10:19 (written in red) "Behold, I have given you the authority to tread upon serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy and nothing shall injure you" Here you will see that Yeshua is talking specifically to the seventy men that He anointed and gave the authority to cast out demons. He is not talking to the people in general.

Matt. 10:8 (written in red) "Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons" In Matthew's account, we see Yeshua choosing 12 specific disciples that He anointed and gave the authority to cast out demons. Again, He was not speaking to the general public of Messianic Believers as a whole, but to just His disciples.

Matt. 12:28 (written in red) "But I cast out demons by the spirit of Yahveh, then the kingdom of Yahveh has come upon you. Or how can anyone enter the strong man's house and carry off his property unless he first binds the strong man? And then he will plunder his house. Here we see Yeshua Himself talking about Him having the anointing and authority to cast out devils; this no one will question.

In Acts 19:15 it says "The evil spirit answered them, Yeshua I know and Paul I know about, but who are you? These men were not holy men, they weren't Baptized in the Holy Spirit, and they had no anointing or authority to command demons out of anyone. The verse explains what happened to them when they attempted to do deliverance. 16 "Then the man who had the evil spirit jumped on them and overpowered them all. He gave them such a beating that they ran out of the house naked and bleeding"

NOTE: The healing given by the elders of the church referred to in James 5:13-15 was because the elders of the church would have been spiritually mature men who were anointed accordingly for healing and deliverance. 1Sam. 16:13, 12:3 Samuel was an anointed man who anointed others. (also Ps. 105:15). (July /02)

Being in the deliverance ministry (someone who removes demons), is only for people who have been called by Adonai to do so. They must receive what is called "special gifting". This chosen person will have special discernment and will have the ability to recognize the presence of a demon or a severe demonic influence. It is a very dangerous thing to get involved in, and very few people have the ability to handle the torment and torture they will receive from dealing with demons. It cannot be over emphasized how dangerous this ministry is. It is beyond any danger known on earth and must be treated with utmost care and respect. In most instances, the person removing the demon, is attacked from all sides by the devil before and after a deliverance takes place. This person lives in constant danger of being attacked by the devil, and must continuously protect himself with the blood of Yeshua. The slightest mistake on the part of this person can cause him terrible turmoil. Although it may be a dangerous ministry, remember, the word says, Luke 10:19 "Behold, I have given you authority to tread upon serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall injure you". I can't express enough how important a close walk with Yahveh is to one attempting to get in the deliverance ministry.

Only the specially anointed saints should go around looking to cast out demons. People with friends or family with demonic problems will find you, if you qualify. Remember Acts 19:13-17, "I command you by Yeshua, whom Paul preaches, to come out! Seven sons of Sceva, a leading priest, were doing this. But when they tried it on a man possessed by an evil spirit, the spirit replied, I know Yeshua and I know Paul, but who are you? And he leaped at them and attacked them with such violence that they fled from the house, naked and badly injured"

If a Believer uses the Word of El Shaddai, (Eph. 6:17) the Blood of Yeshua, (1John 1:13) and the Name of Yeshua, (Ps. 8:1-2, Matt. 21:16) Satan must flee.

A deliverance isn't an action, rather it's a process by which the victim is lead from demonic captivity to spiritual wholeness. The bondage of the victim may be an illusion of demonization, or it may be an unhealthy demonic dependency. Whatever the circumstances, no force of darkness can forever resist the united effort of a willing victim who desires to be set free, and the saint who humbly ministers for El Shaddai and the glory of His Kingdom.

In Phil. 4:8-9 it wraps it all up beautifully. "Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, let your mind dwell on these things. The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things; and Yahveh of peace shall be with you"
